Hometown: Fort Bragg Army Base, North Carolina (Throw your towels up)
Birthdate: 3.27.1978
Category: Genetically Deficient Male (Super Joe Steinez says I’m too tall) Cat1 Newbie
What you bring to the team: A 63cm bike because my legs are longer than they should be. I tried to have the dentist fix that problem when I was 13 but he didn’t have the necessary skill set to perform the operation.
Favorite Movie: Cyrano De Bergerac, Pulp Fiction, Lock Stock & Two Smoking barrels, Henry V, Goonies, Shawn of The Dead
Favorite Song: Unlike Corey Carlson I don’t know any of the lyrics to Jessica Simpson songs. I think this question is absolutely impossible to give one answer to. Music is a reflection of my mood and works more like a guide to my life. If I had the time I would search for new and different music for hours. I love the feeling you get when you experience something new or how a song you know by heart can still move you after having listened to it for years.
Competitive History: I was presented with a motorcycle when I was 6 and fell in love with speed on two wheels, eventually started racing motocross. The transition to bicycle racing was not as easy as I would have expected, I didn’t like having to suffer to go fast, I still don’t.
I didn’t take to racing bikes until I was about 21, I did a few races back in Northern Virginia but didn’t really get into racing until I was 24. That was the first time that I actually said I wanted to be a professional cyclist. I was living in Austin, Tx when I got my upgrade to a cat 2 and that was my first year of completing a full season of racing. After that year my friends and I sent out a ton of emails to amateur teams in Spain and finally heard back from a team in Madrid that said we could come over. Got to Spain in February and things worked out. I ended up racing the entire 2003 season in Spain. It was almost the most demoralizing thing I had ever done. Those kids were fast and they loved to go up hill. Going to Spain is one of the greatest things I have ever done, but finally getting the cat 1 license is up there.
Season Goals 2008: I Just got my Cat1 upgrade so “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” thanks Tom. My next goal is to punish Zirbel up to Ward or put him in a ditch whatever is easiest.
I would love to win a pro, 1 event so I have my work cut out for me. I would also like to survive watching the Sex in The City movie that comes out this summer, my girlfriend is pretty much making it mandatory.
