Not much to say here - wicked tan line. Thanks to Sue Carroll for the photo and hosting us up in Bend, OR at Cascade!

We’re at a hotel in Boise - halfway through our drive home from Vancouver. There will be some better updates coming…

Thanks to Courtney Saario, Brad officially has a new girlfriend. Neither of them are aware of it yet - but they are dating - for real. How do I know? About 1,215 texts and two phone calls following one night consisting of a convertible ride, bonfire with marshmellows and s’mores, hot tubbing and more. That’s how. He’s actually talking to her on the phone right now, on the north side of the Gastown criterium course up in Vancouver. He couldn’t talk to her on the cell next to us because he’d be ridiculed. Obviously.
In other news, Team Rio Grande mostly survived the Cascade Cycling Classic. Casualties consisted of Logan Garey breaking a bone in his shoulder, Taylor Kneuven crashing out of the criterium and unfortunately taking a friend of ours down with him, and Joe Saperstein retiring from the sport of cycling. On the flip side, Taylor Shelden had a great ride - finishing 25th overall as 2nd amateur, Dan Porter had a rough first day but rode consistently thereon out, and I was in the break in 2 of the 6 stages. Brad finished 10th overall in the 2’s race and is getting very close to having the required upgrade points to move up into the cat 1 field. Below are some photos I grabbed from Velonews - who took shots while I was on the front vs. Cyclingnews, which seemed to prefer the shots where I was barely visible, haha.

The team had a great time up in Laramie last weekend at the Dead Dog Classic. Not only did we win the Crit., the TT, 4 primes and put 2 riders in the top 7 of all 3 stages (4 in the top 7 of the crit) and the GC. We also had awesome host housing, great weather, raced well as a team and made a little bit of money. Ok so we didn’t really have the watts to compete for the GC but I would still consider the weekend to be a great success.
