Competitive History: I guess my first taste of competition would’ve been little league baseball, I played catcher, but gave it up when pitchers started throwing too fast. In the meantime I had started running, mostly because my dad was a marathoner, but then I got into cross-country in middle school. I knew I had a knack for bike racing when in 1998, I swept the Clark Potato Days Bike Rodeo in Clark, SD. I took home 3 blue ribbons, one for the top speed radar gun sprint, another in the slow speed parking cone slalom, and finally the true rodeo style barrel race. I didn’t start racing in earnest until my freshman year at the University of Northern Colorado. I went to a mountain bike race with the team, just to get the chance to ride some trails in Durango, and after the first race I was hooked. I finished out the rest of that mountain bike season, got a road bike and started training for the spring collegiate road season.

Outside of collegiate racing, I raced for the Rocky Mounts and then Rocky Mounts – Izze Team on the road and for cyclocross as well. Racing with RM, I upgraded from a cat 4 to a cat 1, and gained quite a bit of experience racing locally as well as a little on a more national level.

Goals: For the 2008 season I hope to gain a lot more experience racing at the national level, as well as help Team Rio Grande prove that it is one of the top amateur programs in the country through the results of the team as well as my own.
