About The Team

When you live and breathe Colorado, as the Rio does, you can hardly help but get caught up in staying fit
while having fun—preferably outdoors, under the almost-always-blue sky.

In 1999, the Rio’s passion for the Colorado lifestyle, together with their commitment to “love thy community,”
led to the formation of Team Rio Grande Racing—one of the top elite amateur cycling programs in the country.

Now in our 12th year, Team Rio Grande’s Elite squad is a powerhouse in the western National Racing Calendar (NRC) cycling scene.
Our team’s racers continue to light it up every weekend, representing all categories in Colorado and surrounding states.
Eight to ten Elite Team Riders focus on NRC and national championship events, maintaining a Colorado-based
Elite rider pool to draw on for travel races when needed.

Our mission is to act as ambassadors of cycling, promote true sportsmanship (on and off their bikes), and provide quality opportunities for
aspiring athletes in all categories—always while having fun. Our Elite team has consistently provided a successful path to the professional peloton.
Former Team Rio Grande Racing members include current U.S. Pro Champion Mara Abbott, Allison Powers,
Taylor Sheldon, Scott Nydam, and current U.S. Pro Tour rider Tejay Van Garderen.

Team Rio Grande Racing trains and races year-round. Watch for us on the road in our signature Rio bike jerseys, cycling hard and enjoying those ColoRio endorphins.
