This Blog Has Hit Rock Bottom

So the blog has been pretty lame lately. I blame Joe mostly, not sure why I just do. I tend to blame him for everything that sucks. I figured I’d add something to the blog. Here it is. Equally lame but different.

It may be windy and rainy but at least it isn’t 17 degrees out. That was a cold ride.

My season has been going pretty well so far. I’ve managed to get some respectable results and after 2.5 seasons as a 2 I finally got my Cat 1 upgrade. One goal achieved two to go. What are the other two you ask; 1) Win a freaking race! 2) Win BAR. There I said it. It’s on the interwebs now so I guess I really have to go for it. I’m sitting 3rd right now but ol’ Kevin Nicol has a pretty good jump on me and there are plenty of other guys who are riding strong this season (Team VC). I had high hopes for a good crit result last week since all most of the heavy hitters were out of town. It was not meant to be. My car died on I25 on the way to Wheels of Thunder. What a pain in the ass that turned out to be. The thing that sucks even worse than the Tow, the Parts (ignition coil) the Labor… Kevin took third and got 21 more points. Crap. On the bright side Sara and I made a weekend out of it. We got a hotel down in Denver, rode the light rail to the Rio and had some fajitas and a margarita or 2 and watched freaks on the 16th Street Mall. It tuned out to be a pretty good weekend. Except for missing two great races and having to have to deal with car repairs. I’m sure all of this was somehow Joe’s fault.

The photos are from the inside of our car while it was being towed down I25 with us in it. Weird. The Denver Cop was super cool. Helped us with the tow and made sure we didn’t die on the side of the road, stuff like that.

Check out that sweetass Orbea!

No racing this weekend. Iron Horse was already full by the time I looked into it. The weather looks horrible for the road race so that makes me feel a bit better but not much. It sounds like some of the guys are gonna come up to the Fort and ride the Rist course tomorrow. That should be fun. Allen said he was gonna take lots of pictures and write a nice blog about it. In other news

  • Logan Garey is now card carrying member of the Red Menace. Welcome aboard Logan! I think he just got his upgrade too.
  • Taylor Shelden upgraded to Cat 1
  • Word on the streets is that Taylor Kneuven just got his also. 3rd @ Hood. Nice ride TK!
  • Brad Bingham has got to be close too. 16th at Hood. 10th at the Triple Valley Stage Race in UT. Racing in ID this weekend. Good luck Brad

We aren’t far from having a full Cat 1 squad.

I also wanted to say congratulation’s to Phil Mann from that other team for his repeat at Collegiate Crit. Nationals. Dan Workman’s lead out/chase was one of the most impressive rides I have ever seen.

And on a final note, I rode through Windsor tonight. The town is in bad shape. It’s strange to see rodes I’ve ridden dozens of times completely covered in debris. The residents have a long road ahead of them. If you want to help out check out the Red Cross Link. I know we have several ACA racers that live there. http://www.northerncolorado.redcross.org/ Dan

  • Thanks for the welcome Dan. It is an honor to be your team mate. We had a great (well not a great ride since we missed the break but we killed ourselves trying to get away) ride at the Greeley crit.
Congrats on the hill climb a few weeks ago you are flying!
